Inspiration from The Southwest

Sedona Red Rocks

Since the pandemic began, we’ve limited our travels to in-state destinations only, but last month one of my best friends (currently living in New York) asked if we would join on a trip to Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Of course I said yes, and soon we were on our first mini road trip!

These are some of the places we went, things we ate, art we saw, and beautiful vistas that may or may not inspire a new collection in my future.

Our first stop was Pizzeria Bianco, in Phoenix for their wood-fired pizza- SO GOOD!

I was amazed by our drive through northern Arizona. Cococino County has beautiful forests and plains. Thanks to summer monsoons, the landscape was lush and wildflowers bloomed everywhere.

Our off-the-grid rental in Taos was such a unique place to stay!

While in Santa Fe we ate delicious food, explored Meow Wolf, and visited the farmers market.

On our way back to Arizona, we drove through my first big thunderstorm- we had to pull over because of the strong winds, zero visibility, hail, and lightning all around us. Experience was a 0/10 -do not recommend it.

Next stop was Sedona; red rock country was truly breathtaking! Everywhere we turned were gorgeous vistas with stunning iconic red rocks.

Our Airbnb was so close to Red Rock State Park there were hiking trails just down the street! While in Sedona we hiked Cathedral Rock and Oak Creek, drove the scenic Red Rock Loop, shopped the galleries and gift shops at Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village, had dinner with incredible sunset views at Creekside Sedona, and checked out the Wetlands Preserve.

It was a really wonderful trip! We would have been content just spending time with our friends whom we hadn’t seen in over a year, but spending nine days away after being hermits for so long was refreshing.

We hope to go back soon and explore more of the southwest- if you have any recommendations to share, we would love to hear them!

If you’ve made it this far, thanks for checking out or vacation album- hope you enjoyed it!
